Private Sync: Sync Across All Your Devices

Keep conversations and settings in sync across your phone, laptop, and browser. Private sync is optional—Caiioo works great offline too.

Why Use Private Sync?

Turn It On

  1. Go to Settings > Data & Sync > Private Sync
  2. Click "Enable Private Sync"
  3. Sign in with your Google account
  4. Create an encryption passphrase — you'll set this once, and it's what derives your encryption key. Caiioo never sees it.
  5. Done—syncing starts automatically

Your data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it ever leaves your device. Caiioo servers never see your conversations or settings—just encrypted blobs in your Google Drive.

Your passphrase is remembered on each device. Once you've entered it, it's stored on that device — encrypted at rest — so sync resumes automatically when the app launches; you won't be asked again on every restart. You still enter it once on each new device (it never syncs or leaves the device), and turning sync off or signing out of your account removes the stored copy.

What Syncs

  • Memory — What Personal Intuition has remembered from your conversations, ready to use on a new device

Some appearance settings are backed up without being copied across devices. Font size, for example, is saved separately for each device, so a restored device gets its own size without making your phone inherit your desktop scale. Settings that only make sense on one machine, such as downloaded local voice models and desktop app configuration, stay on that device.

How It Works

Everything happens in the background:

  1. You make a change on your phone (new conversation, new skill, etc.)
  2. Caiioo encrypts it with the key derived from your passphrase
  3. It uploads to your Google Drive
  4. Your other devices check for changes every few seconds and download them
  5. You see the change within seconds

The encryption key never leaves your device. Only you (with your passphrase) can decrypt your data.

When a desktop is reachable on the same local network, your devices can use it as a faster path. That path still writes through to the same encrypted Google Drive copy, so switching between local and internet connections never creates a second history.

When two devices have both added to the same conversation, the sync indicator reports that it's combining their synced edits into one history, and clears as soon as the unified conversation is ready.

One Conversation, All Your Devices

With Private Sync on and the same account signed in everywhere, your devices form your Private Constellation — Caiioo's name for multi-device continuity (Pro and above; devices on a Free plan still sync conversations, but don't join the constellation). A conversation is no longer tied to the device it started on:

Every conversation has a host device. The host is the device that actually runs the agent — with its folders, tools, and connections. A desktop app, phone, or browser extension can host. A chip in the composer shows the current host; click it to open the Conversation host device picker and switch with Use this device. Devices that have gone quiet (a pocketed phone, a sleeping laptop) stay listed with how long ago they were last seen, greying out once they've been quiet a while — automatic handoff still needs a device that's actually online.

Drive it from anywhere. Send a message from your phone into a conversation hosted on your Mac and it runs on the Mac — with the Mac's folders and tools — while the answer streams live on both screens. The model, mode, language, and reasoning controls you picked ride along with the turn. Your API keys never ride with the message; the host always signs in to providers with its own active credentials. Use the same Send to agent, Interrupt and send, and Stop generating controls from any device. A device that missed part of the turn catches up automatically when you come back to it.

While a turn runs remotely, a banner shows Agent is running on …, with a Use this device button if you'd rather pull the conversation to the device in your hand. If the host can't be reached, your message stays in the conversation with an explanation of what to do — it's never silently lost.

Lock your phone mid-task and your desktop finishes it. In Settings > Connectivity > Private Constellation (Multi-device Continuity) (search the settings for "Constellation" if you don't see it), choose what happens when a phone locks mid-turn: Off (pause and wait for the phone), Always continue on preferred desktop, or Ask once when starting long turns. Choose which desktop takes over with the Prefer button beside it under Your devices — your current choice shows beside Preferred desktop host. A handed-off turn is clearly marked on the phone instead of spinning forever, and the finished answer syncs back so it's waiting when you return. Even when you leave handoff off, the phone sends pending conversation changes as it locks and retries anything left the next time you open the app.

Name and retire devices. Open Settings > Connectivity > Private Constellation (Multi-device Continuity). Under Name this device, enter a useful name and click Save. Under Your devices, live and recently active machines show their current status and last-seen time. Click Remove beside a device you no longer use; the device you're using has no Remove action.

Use Caiioo in a Browser on Another Device

This is separate from private sync. Two ways to open Caiioo in a browser on another device while everything keeps running on your main computer:

Remote access via the private relay (works anywhere)

  1. On your main device, go to Settings > Connectivity > Connections and turn on Private Relay
  2. Copy the address that appears — relay.caiioo.ai/app
  3. Open it in any browser on the other device and sign in with the same account
  4. No pairing code needed; the connection is end-to-end encrypted and reaches only your own instance

Caiioo Bridge pairing (same local network, with a code)

  1. Go to Settings > Connectivity > Connections > Caiioo Bridge > Pair a device
  2. A 6-character code appears — valid for 5 minutes, single-use
  3. Open the same URL on the other device and enter the code
  4. Rate limit: 10 attempts per IP per minute
  5. Server restart re-pairs cleanly

If the address begins with https://, your browser warns once that the certificate is self-signed — it comes from your own computer, not the wider internet. Continue past the warning; without accepting it, secure features are unavailable on that device.

Note: The desktop app stays on this computer by default; LAN access is opt-in via Settings > Connectivity > Connections. Tokens are only handed out to localhost requests even when LAN access is enabled.

Troubleshooting

Sync not working?

  • Check your Google account connection in Settings > Data & Sync > Private Sync
  • If your Google token expired, click "Reconnect Google"
  • Make sure you have space in your Google Drive
  • Make sure your passphrase matches what you set on the other device
  • Try toggling sync off and back on

Forgot your passphrase? There's no recovery — the passphrase never leaves your device, so Caiioo can't reset it. If you've lost it, disable sync on one device, use Delete ALL Drive Data (in Settings > Data & Sync > Private Sync) to clear the encrypted cloud copy, then re-enable with a new passphrase.

Want to turn it off? Go to Settings > Data & Sync > Private Sync and click "Disable Private Sync". Your data stays on your device, but won't sync to other devices anymore. This also removes the stored passphrase from the device. To remove the encrypted backup from your Google Drive as well, use Delete ALL Drive Data.
